Emergency
If someone is seriously unwell, do not wait online.
If this is a medical emergency, go to the nearest emergency facility immediately. Radius Health online consultations are not for life-threatening emergencies.
Go to an emergency facility now if there is
- Chest pain, pressure or tightness, especially with sweating, nausea or pain spreading to the arm or jaw
- Difficulty breathing, or breathing that is fast, noisy or laboured
- Sudden weakness or numbness on one side, a drooping face, or slurred speech
- Heavy bleeding that does not stop with pressure
- Loss of consciousness, a fit, or someone who cannot be woken
- Severe injury, a burn, or a suspected broken bone
- Severe abdominal pain, or vomiting that will not stop
- A baby or child who is floppy, will not feed, is unusually drowsy or has a rash that does not fade under pressure
- Heavy bleeding, severe pain or reduced baby movements in pregnancy
- Thoughts of harming yourself or someone else
What Radius Health can and cannot do
We can
- Assess a non-emergency problem by video, audio or chat
- Advise whether you need to be seen in person, and how urgently
- Help you decide where to go
- Send notes, a prescription, a test request or a referral afterwards
We cannot
- Send an ambulance
- Examine, treat or operate on you physically
- Replace a hospital emergency department
- Guarantee a clinician is free at any given moment
If you are unsure whether something is an emergency, treat it as one. It is always better to be assessed in person and sent home than to wait.
